Child Licensing and Chaperones
All children under the statutory school leaving age require a license to perform in television, stage, radio voice overs, commercials and modelling assignments.
The license is required before the performance takes place and can take up to 21 days to process. Most local authorities require at least 7 working days to process a license for a paid performance.
The license comprises of 2 parts, 1 to be completed by the Production Company and 2 to be complete d by the Parent/Guardian. If the child will be absent from school for any part of the Production, school permission is also required.
It is against the law for any school age child to perform in any paid production without a license. There are a few exclusions.
In most instances the Parent/Guardian will be expected to chaperone their own child for the duration of the production. In the event that the Production is a longer commitment, the Production Company will engage the services of professional Chaperones to chaperone the child(ren) on set.
